It involves correction of eyelid, facial, lacrimal and orbital deformities that resulted from a birth defect, injury, or removal of a tumor. It also includes management of tumors around the eye which need specialized care and reconstruction. Surgery for crossed eyes or squint, to restore normal alignment and improve depth perception is also a type of functional surgery.
